New Year!

Hey everybody! Welcome to 2013!

Here is a batch of signs for my friends at Serendipity Farms. I'm approaching these shingles (actually old handwriting ruled cardboard or chipboard chalkboards) as sho cards for the farm's booth at farmers' markets. the whimsical lettering is a ton of fun and the black panels look really great against a background of freshly picked veggies! if you're in San Francisco on a Sunday, go check them out at the Fort Mason farmers market and the market at Divisadero and Grove!

signs that you are hungry...

here are two new signs, the first pair for the Cabo Blue Taco Shack in Downtown Monterey...
and two sides of a new shingle for the Ambrosia India Bistro, replicating their old foamcore and vinyl sign. lettering was pre-designed.

theft and marriage

so, i've got some good news and some bad news and both news tidbits are related to signs...
obviously you'll want to get the bad news out of the way so that you can walk away with a sweet taste on your palate...

this sign, which hung out on the sidewalk by our shop, was stolen yesterday. it always sucks to get things stolen but more so when the thing in question was painted with love and also served a great purpose (of letting people know where our little tattoo shop is) anyhow, this is what she looked like... if you hear anything about this sign, please let me know.... if you stole it, there aren't enough hells for your dire corpse.
now onto the GOOD news... two very good friends of mine have decided to make their relationship 'official' after ten years of 'casual' dating (<---- a nearly direct quote from the bride's dad's toast, hahaha) my love and congrats to Melissa and Ted!!! Your wedding was beautiful and a real hoot! may this always welcome you to your happiest place...
kind of a weird angle, but i couldn't overcome glare without it. also, give my lovely assistant, Zeus, a hand!!!

sign of the times

whipped up this fella a couple weeks ago. some of the ol' cheap tattoos aren't good and good tattoos aren't cheap.....
SPEAKING of cheap tattoos, we're doing an event at the shop for this Friday the 13th! We're doing 13 specially-designed tattoos for 13 bux each. These wont be your standard pinner $13 13 tattoos, these are rad, one sitting pieces of beauty. Starts at the shop, 1pm Fri. May 13th.... check out the shop website here.

it's a sign!

i have recently fallen completely in love with signs and the pugnacious craft of sign painting, a trade as hard to enter and master as tattooing! here are a couple of my swings at the medium, still sussing out material and techniques... all respect due to all sign painters, these were gifts to people.

and a couple more of those 365's that you love so much, these were done sort of late at night, so....

and gosh! it must be your birthday! here's a tattoo too! this kid is in the military and realized after pledging 6 years that the US military was entirely responsible for the eradication/ decimation/ genocide of the native american peoples (well, the disease scourge that the military brought helped too...) so he got this tattoo as a sort of posthumous reparation.
