ouching tiger year of the dragon

finally finished up a grueling rib panel on a friend of mine! tattoos on the side hurt a bit more than a lot of other places on the body, so the incentive to get big pieces finished is somewhat less. my hat is definitely off to this man.
and my first dragon of the year of the dragon! woo hoo! this fella also sat like a champ. still have to shade some style into the cloud around his existing tattoo...

do work

here's one from the last week. this gentleman wanted a crown with his daughter's name on his forearm in a woodblock print style. followers of this blog and my minor local art career know that woodblock prints are something i love to do! i couldn't help but to schedule him an appointment and get to cutting. this is the result...

welcome to the jungle eagle

alright, so there is no jungle eagle. at least not on this blog....

what i do have for you this time, faithful readers, is a small recap of the Friday the 13th Tattoo Extravaganza that we here at Olde Town Tattoo put together over the last couple of months. The $13 tattoos sold remarkably well. my 3 designs are pictured below. i had a TON of fun with these guys and i could pretty much do this bold, folky look all damn day, so if this is up your alley, bring thyself into the light!!! it's worth noting (without naming names) that each person that got one of these tattoos were an absolute pleasure to spend time with. come get more hurted you guys!!!

i also got to see (and tattoo) some friends from the Bay this weekend. she is an animal lover and is in the process of getting a sleeve of, well, animals! this one is special not just because of who wears it, but also for the illustrative style not common in tattooing. pardon the green fog in the background, this was drawn on...

twothousandtwelve

first tattoo of the new year! this young lady has the constitution of a brick wall. well done, miss. this is a fitting compliment to the year of the dragon that we are entering, as the phoenix and dragon are often depicted in art as complimentary opposites; the dragon representing the male side of things and the phoenix holding it down for the ladies.

don't miss out on our art show and tattoo event, happening Fri. Jan. 13th, $13 tattoos at 1pm, art show at 6pm. Click here for all the details...

battery-powered hummingbird

this fine fellow gets tattooed every year around (and for) his birthday. i ran into him at a local music store and we set a date for this year's tattoo event. everything went really smoothly, he already had a design that had been drawn up by an artist from San Diego ready to go and everything...

so he shows up the day of his appointment on time and ready to go and while he's filling out the paperworks, the power goes out in our whole quadrant of downtown. being that the primary energy source responsible for modern tattooing is electricity, this was a bit of a problem.... fast forward two hours and the damned power is still out, but we have set up an alternate energy source. just as i hook up the battery and get the ol' machines buzzing, the juice comes back on! after all the waiting we decided that this tattoo was meant to be battery-powered and did it that way. viva dissimilar metals!!!
also, had a great time talking music and gear!!! if you're on the central coast, get thee down to

Music Unlimited(831) 372-5893425 Alvarado St!!! buy local, save lives!
